NIACE are pleased to announce the winners of the Adult Learners’ Week 2012 photo competition:
Jack Drum Arts ‘Rehearsing the Finale’ was named the overall winner, receiving £200 worth of photographic vouchers. The photograph is of a group of people rehearsing the final song for their ‘The Bonny Moorhen’ musical play. It was submitted by Julie Ward and photographed by Helen Ward:
The second prize was awarded to Kirsty Shepherd at Linkage Community Trust for her photograph of a learner holding a movie clipper board, receiving £100 worth of photographic vouchers:
Third prize was awarded to Suzie Siers at Linkage Community Trust for her photograph titled ‘Sports Relief Day’ which depicts a learner on a bicycle being supported by her tutor, receiving £50 worth of photographic vouchers:
The three winners were unveiled at a reception held today (Thursday 17 May 2012) at the Leicester People’s Photographic Gallery. The nine short-listed finalists were also displayed at the Gallery.
The contest had received submissions from across the country reflecting the many different types of learning that takes place and celebrating the benefits it can bring. The top nine short-listed photographs were chosen to inspire others to give learning a go.
Anyone wanting to see the three winning photographs and nine short-listed photographs can do so at the Leicester People’s Photographic Gallery, where they will be displayed for one week.
