Outstanding Group of Learners nominations
The 2010 Adult Learners’ Week Award Winners have now been announced.
Nominations for the 2011 Awards will be open in October, register here for more information.
The eligibility criteria for the Adult Learners’ Week Awards 2011 will be available in October, however the criteria for 2010 was:
Groups are defined very broadly. They can be work colleagues, friends or volunteers, but must be:
- A group of three or more people who have learnt together.
- Groups who are nominated must be, in the main, adults aged 18 or over on 29 January 2010.
- Some of the nominees' learning must have taken place between January 2009 and January 2010.
- Applications must be signed by three members of the group
Groups were also eligible for special awards:
- the European Social Fund (ESF) Awards will celebrate individuals, groups and projects that have learnt with support from the ESF;
- the Digital Participation Award (sponsored by BBC) will recognise learning where the use of new technology has been central;
- the Intergenerational Award (sponsored by MLA) will award intergenerational learning in the Museums, Libraries and Archives sector;
- the Power of Reading Award (sponsored by Booktrust) will recognise how the pleasure of reading or writing has inspired or resulted in an outstanding learning journey;
- the Outstanding Achievement Award (sponsored by the National Open College Network) will recognise outstanding learning on an OCN programme; and
- the Transformation Fund Award will award learners who have received funding from the Government initiative.
