This award recognises learning where the use of new technology and/or broadcasting has been central to learning opportunities.

This award recognises learning where the use of craft has been central to learning opportunities.

Young Adult Learner of the Year
This award recognises the learning of an individual who has broken through the barrier of previously not learning, training, earning or working. To qualify for this award, the learner must be aged between 18 and 25 on 28 January 2012.

Apprentice of the Year (sponsored by Pearson )
This award recognises learning through an apprenticeship programme. To qualify for this category, the learner must be aged 18 or over on 28 January 2012 and part of the programme must have taken place between January 2011 and January 2012.
