To celebrate the start of Adult Learners’ Week, which runs from 15-21 May, and the current retrospective exhibition of the work of Irving Penn at the National Portrait Gallery, photography learners from CALAT are setting up a portrait studio in the Clocktower Court at Croydon Clocktower, Katharine Street, Croydon on Saturday 15 May, from 10.00am-2.00pm. They will be taking pictures of members of the public in the style of the American photographer, Irving Penn. Learners on the award winning City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Photography course at CALAT are required to create and present their own event and exhibition as part of their course and the photographs taken will form part of an exhibition entitled ‘The Face of Croydon’ to be presented at a later date.
